This brooding 13th-century castle sits on the rugged and spectacular Atlantic coast in Cornwall, which recalls the myth and mystery associated with King Arthur and Merlin the magician. New exhibition explores the stories linking Tintagel to King Arthur which includes a 3D model of the site illustrating how it has changed over the centuries. Dog friendly and child friendly, this is a great day out for all the family.

Last time we came here it was closed for renovations this time it was open but the Land Rover transport was not operating as it was out of season. The walk down is about 500 metres and the word DOWN is most appropriate as it is a steep path. There is a shop and restaurant at the end which you... More

Absolutely wonderful but not for push chairs or any sort of walking disability as it's a he'll of a hill down and the castle it self is well full of steps. However, if you do manage to get up the steps the views are truly breath taking

Wear good solid shoes and be prepared for long climbs up steps but worth every effort. GOOD CAFE AFTERWARDS!

Well what can you say about this place. Truly breathtaking. Amazing views and really interesting place a must visit. Old ruins, dramatic scenery. Plenty of walks in the surrounding area and a cafe. You won't be disappointed

When King Arthur lived here he obviously didn't have any infirm or unfit friends the stairs are a killer. Merlins Cave ( if he ever existed) is a million stairs below the castle. If you are fit and looking for a windy walk around some fantastic scenery then this is the place for you.

We visited on the day of Storm Doris and found the castle closed due to high winds. Obviously safety is important given the high cliffs but I would recommend checking prior to visiting. The path down to the castle is fairly steep and could be difficult for some although there is transport at £2 each We were able to walk... More

Only requires an hour or so of your time but very picturesque and atmospheric. We happened to come on a very windy day, they nearly shut the island part as they were just reaching the safety limit! Worth the stop. Cute little town too.
