Take this extraordinary glimpse into the beloved holiday home of the famous and much-loved author Agatha Christie and her family. The relaxed and atmospheric house is set in the 1950s, and contains many of the family's collections, including archaeology, Tunbridgeware, silver, botanical china and books. Outside you can explore the large and romantic woodland garden, with a restored vinery, wild edges and rare plantings, which drifts down the hillside towards the sparkling Dart estuary.

House is an interesting glimpse into Agatha Christies life. It has had many millions spent on it by the National Trust (£4 million l believe) and is being improved all the time. The gardens are huge with lots of walking trails, a bit uninspiring but...More

Took passenger ferry from Dittisham, cheaper than ferry from Dartmouth, beautiful gardens and very interesting house, our second visit and so well worth it, lovely way to spend a day, although, in line with most National Trust, cafe is expensive

Best access by river ferry. Car parking should be pre-booked. No problem with that though. Very enjoyable, informative house and gardens.

You need to book parking, or visit using the Ferry or Steam Train. Famous as the holiday home of Agatha Christie the house has 200 years of history before the author bought it. Gardens and boat house worth the walk down to the river.

Began our trip with a tour around the gardens led by a Gardner which was interesting. He explained the history of the gardens, and showed us the walled gardens, fernery, and the collection of Camellias, which were out and looking beautiful when we visited. We...More

Despite the weather (constant rain) we found this to be a pleasant trip. The house shows off its links to Agatha Christie well and the location is lovely. As another advantage the car parking is limited, ensuring that the grounds and house are relatively quiet....More

Dogs are welcome here and will love the beautiful walks around the estate. There are water bowls and tethering poles outside the main reception. Dogs are not allowed in the house.
