There seems to have been a gentle change of approach here. They used have have regular and impressive exhibitions of mostly top quality West Country contemporary artists. Then there was a substantial interest in Lenkievicz and the remains of his local work and legacy. Now we occasionally see some stuff hanging or stacked in the front room looking on to... More

Second to the gardens this was the next most enjoyable thing we did. Could have been an art gallery in any major city, good sized with a lot of quality works on display. Worth a look

With the move of the Somerville's gallery from Mayflower St to Maker Heights that leaves New Street Ballery as probably the only Plymouth based Ballery dealing in high quality contemporary and predominantly west country based art. This listing should be in the shopping category. New Street Gallery is worth a visit but it is generally worth giving them a call... More

Friends have bought from here and recommended it to us but having come down to look twice we have both times been disappointed. First time there was a note on the door saying someone would be back in half an hour. We came by three times in the hour after that and although there was a light on, pictures stacked... More

Well established and always interesting. Not cheap. Local or west country painters. Have bought from here and very satisfied. A few exhibitions a year but usually a reasonable mixed selection to browse. Chatty and well informed staff. Just unpredictable hours.

Open unpredictably. Holds a few mixed or one artist exhibitions a year. Seems moderately informed and professional, selling better stuff than pretty well anywhere else in the city. Always worth a look if open and if you say what you're interested in they will often have something to your taste. Can be a bit stand offish and at times it... More
