Overview
More
Kents Cavern is by far Britain's most important prehistoric cave used by ancient humans for the last 500,000 years including Neanderthals and early modern humans. The caves are open every day for guide tours, 7 days a week with natural caverns, amazing natural formations, remains of mammoth, woolly rhino, sabre-toothed cats, an Ice Age woodland trail quest, nice shop and cafe with views over the Ilsham Valley. The closest hotel to the attraction is the Gleneagles, inspiration for TV's Fawlty Towers. We are 2km from Torquay Harbour and only 15 mins walk from the South West Coast Path and local beaches, well-known to previous visitors like Agatha Christie, Beatrix Potter, George V, Alfred Wallace and Charles Darwin. Perfect for a rainy or sunny day by the seas, winter or summer.

Witty Matthew, our tour guide was amazing, had a zinger every few minutes. The caves are also pretty well done, interesting presentation.

Not too long, not too boring yet still educational. Scripting was entertaining and delivered with appropriate enthusiasm for the varied audience. We visited during Halloween season so there were pumpkins hidden throughout the tour which provided great entertainment for the younger crowd.

This attraction is fully educational. Tours to caves are regular. They take you through a series of geologically fascinating caves and some amazing discoveries that have been found there. One of the most amazing is a mammoth’s tooth. The tour guides are very knowledgable and...More

Very interesting visit, highly recommended. Also the guide (David) made the guided tour real fun. Also it's quite impressive to see some of the tricks with fire they do there.

As someone who is often disappointed with the expensive entry price and very little else to do after an hour of main attraction, Kent’s Cavern did not disappoint. Parking very reasonable at £2 for 4hrs and right outside venue. Staff throughout the experience, including the...More

Interesting and informative way to spend a rainy hour in Torquay. Great half term activities for younger children and they seemed to love it. We first visited 10 years ago and it was as good second time around. Cafe food was excellent.
