This is lovely sandy beach, good for sandcastles and flat enough for cricket. It slopes gradually so is safe for paddling and swimming. There is a concrete promenade separated from the beach by a 500 metre length of terracing which provides a comfortable place to sit. A good thing about Abbey Sands is that there is usually some sand exposed... More

We walked from Torquay harbour around the promenade to abbey sands which in itself is a lovely sandy beach with gorgeous views. In the distance we spotted a headland which we decided to venture out to this was called Corbyn head. There are lots of benches to sit and relax and a tiny war memorial. The views across Torquay bay... More

A lovely spot, tucked below the main road, with station and bus routes near bye. Clean and washed by the tide, lovely views out to see and to the main harbour.

Off season so very quiet, but beach is lovely and clean. There were dog walkers there and couples walking, but it's great to hear the sea lapping the beach.

A delightful beach that offers calm and tranquilly, safe for children and surrounded by wonderful areas of park, duck-ponds, tennis courts, bowling greens, mini-golf, cliff walks, shops, bars, cafes, restaurants and gardens. A must for every beach-loving traveller. No dogs in summer, beware of the beach sand artist, amusing but walk where you like, it's everyone's right, only leave foot-prints!

Lovely soft warm sands. Very shallow water and perfect for the family. High tide does cover the sands, but not for long and is not a problem really. Great promenade and the view is spectacular across the bay. Honestly. we love this place.

Beach gets very busy around 11am but if you get there even at 8am,you should get a lovely spot and get to have some quiet time there. Chairs only £1.50p all day til 5pm. Clean beach and I really felt relaxed here. There is a lovely café but there is probably more than one but there was one I used... More

The main beach in Torquay is not the largest but it is clean and safe. There are a selection of activities such as kayaks, body boards etc to hire along with the expected deck chairs. The beach is a few minutes walk from the town centre and with the building of the new development just behind it (can't remember the... More

Very flat and clean. You get some seaweed come in on high tide but it is cleaned off early the next morning (which is nice to see on the early morning walk if you are out and about). You can go out a fair way and it is still only half way up you calf. Very safe for children and... More
