This castle in the is main ruins, but still the history in the place lives on. With it being mainly an 'open area', it's best to visit on a fine / lovely day. And must say we had a lovely day there, & really enjoyed...More

Visited on a rainy wintry day. Staff were friendly. This is a small quite intact motte and bailey. It's a small circular castle with one small internal room preserved (the toilet!) And you can go up to the top of the castle and walk around....More

A pile of mud with some rocks on top. Nice if you like that kind of thing, but quite disappointing after paying £12 to enter. A few very basic info boards. Very similar experience for free at Plympton.

The castle is situated at the top of the town. As long as you are reasonably fit the walk up to it is no problem. It has no parking of its own so you will have to leave your car in a town car-park. If...More

Exactly how it is described.. Go to the English Heritage Website and the description is exactly what you see.. it’s a lovely little castle over looking Totnes.. The views are stunning from the top of the keep. It’s a great example of a Norman Motte...More

The title says it all really. Bit of a climb to the top and there are great views over Totnes but thats about it, there's nothing much to see the justify the entry fee if I'm honest. OK if you want to kill half an...More

Visited this afternoon and we were the only one's there. Amazing views over the town and surrounding countryside. We sat in the gardens afterwards soaking up the sunshine and peace and quiet. English Heritage membership gets you free entry otherwise it's £4.80 for an adult.

A short walk from the town centre and you havea lovely castle, well preservedand looked after. An hour is sufficient to do it justice.

Another great reason to have an English Heritage membership. This Norman Castle sits high above the town of Totnes affording wonderful views all around. However be warned that the climb up to it is very steep with lots of steps. Not suitable for someone with...More
