A free museum at the top of ,Gold Hill (Hovis Hill). Had a look around after visiting the very steep street where the Hovis advert was filmed. Very quaint interesting museum about the life of Shaftesbury. Defiantly recommend a visit.

A small museum, no coffee shop, but as it is part of the town, plenty of places to drink or eat nearby. We had a nice chat with one of the staff; there is more to Gold Hill than the Hovis ad. Visit on a sunny day so you can enjoy sitting in the little garden,

Had a quick visit around this lovely free museum. Displays some really interesting exhibits about the town. Leave a bit of time to look at the garden which is somewhere to sit and relax looking over the stunning views. The Saxons knew what they were doing when they built Shaftesbury in this great location!

Take in the famous view, even if the museum for it is closed! (It's due to open on the first, but we visited on a sunny day regardless)

Gold Hill, well known for the Hovis “Boy on a Bike” advert, this modern museum is set in two historic buildings. One was once the priest’s house and still has a “squint” through the wall to St Peter’s church; the other provided basic lodgings for traders at the market on Gold Hill.

A lovely museum, with displays laid out in different rooms and on different levels, with items of interest for adults and children. It is particularly child-friendly.

Gold hill is well worth the walk up and down being the star of the Hovis advert from the 70s (?). Well preserved cottages.Area has an interesting history. Unfortunately the museum was closed at the time of our visit but looked interesting and is free.

Great place to soak up the local history with the grandkids. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. Living here you tend to miss out on this little gem by walking past. Well worth walking down the steps and into the past.
