Fantastic grounds surround a truly beautiful stately home. The castle is filled with history and splendor and is a must for true history seekers. I recently found out that it was also the HQ for the commandos preparing for the Normandy landings. A fantastic day...More

A lake, a cafe, a shop, a beautiful house in a fabulous landscape. Very special, and another great contribution to the town.

This property is more of a stately home than a castle. There are ruins of the old castle which can be seen on the other side of a lake. Staff there very friendly and helpful. Parking on the grass outside the front of the property....More

We did not go into the house (save that for another time) as it was a glorious autumn day so savoured the gardens and grounds, dominated of course by that 50 acre lake. All were beautifully kept with fine and historic speciment trees and shrubs...More

Sherborne Castle once the home of Sir Walter Raleigh offers a great experience. The house has belonged to the same family since 1617 and is full of interesting furniture, porcelain and portraits accumulated over the centuries. Wonderful Capability Brown grounds too.

Go into the castle drive, pay admission at the ticket box, you are then directed to the castle and parking. It is a large area close to the castle
