Lovely theatre

This is our 2nd visit to this theatre. We prefer stalls seating. The theatre is a lovely size, not too big. There is a bar that sells soft and alcoholic beverages and snacks.

Love Peter James' novels and have seen his last two plays (Perfect Murder [with Les Dennis and Clare Goose] and Dead Simple), which were excellent. I have to admit I was concerned when I heard Shane Richie was playing Roy Grace as although I had seen him in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest many years ago in which he... More

My friend and I had tickets to see the Roy Grace play yesterday. It strayed so far off the original book that it was almost a different story. Shane Ritchie was miscast in the role of Roy Grace, totally unconvincing. The stage setting was miserable consisting of mainly (the top part of the stage) the interior of a mortuary. On... More

Love this place for a selection of reasons. Always clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. My favourite place to watch from is the royal circle. Watched gaslight, which was excellent, last week and last night not dead enough, sadly slow going and the actors just didn't seem to gel well. Saved slightly by Shane Ritchie playing Roy Grace... A pleasant evening out in an unbelievably old and traditional theatre house. Everything about the place looked like it had been brought back to life to the current century, obviously well looked after. A bit cramped especially if you view from the terrace but seats very comfortable and the atmosphere felt very welcoming and 'cared for'. Steps incredibly steep so... More

Apologies to the Theatre Royal - it wasn't their fault that the play was indescribably bad. Not Dead Enough was a disaster! However, we couldn't actually see part of the stage from our not cheap seats in the gallery, and for the first minute or so we couldn't see anything at all. While the first words were being spoken and... More

Opening night for this play, sadly disappointing a little amateurish. Have always enjoyed Peter James novels but this fell short. Shane Richie did play Roy Grace (Lead character ) very well. However the character of Cleo was poorly portrayed.

My freinds booked us tickets to see Gaslight in the Balcony. Unfortunately I am afraid of heights and the staff were lovely helping me into my seat and eventually when that didn't work arranging another seat slightly lower down. They were a delight and really made the visit much less stressful for me.

his was our first visit to the Theatre Royal and the staff there were excellent. We booked to see Gaslight and we booked Access Seats and also asked about booking a VIP package, which we did as we were told there was a lift to the VIP lounge. However, we arrived at the theatre to find it is an old... More

If you book at the box office and you use a wheelchair you can get a wheelchair space in the stales and a seat for your career at a discounted price. It can get very busy and there is a small bar for drinks just as you come in and a disabled toilet ,I believe a larger bar upstairs but... More
