This area of Brighton is known as the local predominately gay area. There are many pubs, bars and restaurants to enjoy. The local shops are not your normal high street shops but are fun to see. The area is a very mixed area and although considered the gay quarter by many its is very mixed with many different things to... More

This area of Brighton for the traveller on foot is quite large. However, make an effort to visit the the "flea Mkt" on Upper St James St. and wander around the area a little to soak up the VILLAGE atmosphere. Lots of small cafes,a few pubs and small shops selling a range of goods. Even better admire the buildings from... More

Kemptown is a suburb of Brighton, just up the hill from The Steine, to the west you have madeira drive and the coastal view. Lots of independent shops and cafes to meander around. The architecture in this area is worth the walk alone to enjoy the history.

This area is so eclectic and interesting. Like a small village attached to a city but with incredible and varied architecture. Many good restaurants, cafes and bars. A great place to while away some time.

Having stayed in Kemptown for the past couple of weeks, I must admit to changing my first impression of the place, which was rather negative. It IS noisy at night if you're staying in a B&B locally, but that's because it's so lively and attracts so many different people. It is bustling.....full of cafes, restaurants and alternative type shops. It's... More

The nerve centre for Pride in early August. U.K. Number One Gay scene. An area of architectural interest. Home of Alice in Wonderland's Lewis Carroll. Plenty of pubs, bars, bakery, restaurants, cafes and flea markets and a few antique shops. A MUST. Highly recommended day of evening. Pubs with jazz and other social activities.

Kemptown is a must visit area of Brighton, great for a bit of shopping and also a vibrant place for a night out - If Kemptown hasn't got what you want, you probably won't find it anywhere in Brighton
