The bar staff here are friendly and helpful but could know more about their ciders as couldn’t recommend which one to have as ‘didn’t drink cider’ A nice traditional pub though with good decoration instead of the chain pubs and also no tv which was...More

good mix of punters, some dodgy and some tourists, usual stuff. Music on a saturday night offered by Alan the dj. Playing some proper choons, house and funk mainly. All in the best setting you could ask for. Try Yates next door first and you...More

Had a few beers with friends at the outside pavement patio area and can highly recommend the Timothy Taylor's Landlord bitter and the Symonds Cider. We had just eaten so could not partake of their Sunday roast which looked amazing and great value - with...More

I am a sucker for old Victorian pubs and this is one of the best. Friendly staff, the girl behind the bar was doing everything but with a smile. Food was excellent pub fare and beer and wine prices cheap for city centre pubs. Why...More

Having just wandered in whilst out tor a stroll on Saturday evening it was refreshing to be welcomed by staff and locals alike. Very warm atmosphere. Bar staff were particularly candid about their own view of awaiting pubs and a regular local maintained the theme....More

Quite pricey considering that is next door to Yates's and across the road from Wetherspoons. Still it is nice inside and friendly with interest mosaic tile pictures on the walls.

Excellent pub with well served real ales, that I always pop into when I visit the town centre during the daytime. Friendly and professionally run establishment, with a loyalty card system for those sensible enough to become regulars. I haven't eaten there myself, but have...More

We went here for lunch. The food was absolutely delicious and home cooked. Portions were huge. I had the most delicious chicken stuffed with goats cheese and spinach wrapped in bacon, served with garlic chive mash and a tarragon sauce. Hubby had cottage pie which...More
