The new pier rennovation has received architectural awards and plaudits from numerous reviewers. The pier is mostly clear space at the sea end, so it feels very open and bright and expansive. Best time of day is around sunset. You can get a drink at...More

not been for a while and although the pier is still a beautiful structure it is spoilt by the awful music with adverts coming through speakers all over the place. Really not necessary. I do like the additional seats and deck chairs around the place....More

The pier is unusually minimalist in design giving a feeling of peace and freshness. You can get a coffee or a meal in the cafe, there is a history display and in the summer there are food huts and events. But best of all are...More

Lovely pier, very tranquil with none of your usual pier attractions. The plaques are a nice touch, very poignant and the gold animals give it it's own quirk

Even since pier was sold it's gone downhill. Rubbish radio music you can't escape being blasted, tacky animals and service in the restaurant is now dreadful, with warm beer and tacky decor.

Didn't get a say in that. My share was sold without any consultation. I call that theft personally. Went onto the pier today and whilst I still love the new design, it's sparseness has gone and been filled by large tacky animals, golden lions and...More

Under new management. Gone is the interesting and well researched memories room, gone is the tasteful shop. This building is now used as a garage for a gold golf buggy. Incongruous ‘plastc’ Animals ( some painted gold) adorn the deck. Why? Worse, awful piped music...More

I am appalled that the pier has now been fitted for piped music - actually Kiss FM radio played loudly. I used to enjoy the peace and quiet and the sound of the sea, but the new owner has different ideas. It is impossible to...More

I love the pier but hate the music that is now played on the pier including the open decks. Often the sound system is playing a radio station. The pier is a great place to visit for the views and the sound of the sea....More

Well it's certainly worth a visit but you may not stay too long. The pier does however host some private events so that is probably different. Personally I think there is room for a lot of improvement but as it's now privately owned the town...More
