This just appeared to be a glorified shop with a selection of old penny games machines upstairs (not sure what their connection was to Rye). There was, I understand a short film about the history of the town, but one had to pay to see...More

I remember this place from previous visits as being very good with excellent collection of walking guides but it now seems more interested in selling souvenirs. maybe nobody walks anymore.

Right near where we parked was the Heritage Centre - a first stop for information on what to see and do in Rye. Very helpful staff who gave us good advice as well as maps and pamphlets. Gifts and souvenirs are for a sale also.

Bought a 20 p map after asking about country walks. Great walk across the moors to Camber castle. It was closed and it's very difficult to find the trails. But wonderful. Windy.

The model of the town with its sound and light show is an excellent introduction to Rye. The staff are friendly and there are high quality souvenirs on sale.

Love Rye but found the heritage centre not our thing. Found it a bit dull and disappointing. Souvenir shop could really help itself by selling better quality and more interesting merchandise.
