It was ok but not really special. Can't fault the reception staff as they were great. Breakfast was quite average. The room was again ok but not special. I think they tend to trade on the age of the building but comfort wise it wasn't...More

Had a lunchtime birthday drink on a Saturday - bar was packed so sat outside facing car park ! Could consider a Remington off car park with plants or something as it could be much improved outside of this was done.

I came to Rye for the day with a couple good friends on a wet and windy day in December, with the goal being a nice walk around a picturesque Old English Town. I wasn't disappointed. Rye is a beautiful little place, tucked away like...More

Amazing that this bar has been around since 1420 - great fireplace and stories with a poem by Rudyard Kipling outside as well..............

Ok so it's an old bar, with a nice cosy feel. However, be warned it's very small and becomes packed easily.More

Thank you for your review. The Giants Fireplace Bar contains one of England's largest Inglenook Fireplaces, which can be seen on our website. The building was rebuilt in 1420, and as you say, it is a very popular place for local people and for the...More

Dating back to 1156 this restaurant/bar/Inn is a hot spot even if you only need a beer or two. Sitting in the bar you can imagine the sailers of centuries ago sitting in the same spot drinking and drinking some more. Otherwise nothing special just...More

Thank you for your review. In answer to your question....The Mermaid is a top hotel because the focus is on running a top hotel, and not running a coffee shop. That is why we receive such fulsome praise on the many review sites. There are...More

The perfect spot for an afternoon drink or two. Tonnes of atmosphere, history and charm. Outdoor seating for those sunny days too. Friendly staff. Looks like a fantastic place to stay the night too. Our favourite pub in rye!
