The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway is a heritage railway over 14 miles (23km) long in the beautiful English Cotswolds. Visit the GWSR stations at Broadway (postcode WR12 7DF), Toddington (postcode GL54 5DT), Winchcombe (GL54 5LD), or Cheltenham Racecourse (GL50 4SH). Free parking, and there is so much to do in addition to riding on the heritage trains. There are authentic Great Western Railway stations and well-stocked shops. Catering options include on-train buffet cars, Broadway Station Refreshment Room, 1950s themed Coffee Pot Cafe at Winchcombe Station and the Flag & Whistle Restaurant at Toddington Station. There is a model railway coach and Discovery Coach at Winchcombe Station, whilst at Toddington there is a self-guided heritage trail, a children’s play area, a have-a-go signalbox and a locomotive yard viewing area. Great experience
We had an excellent time on the Santa Special today. We felt very safe and very well looked after with drinks provided at Winchcombe, and a mince pie. Very friendly staff. It was a wonderful experience.

Santa specials
We have visited GWSR several times but attended the Santa Special trains this year for the first time. We had an excellent day; my daughter was excited to see Santa and my son the steam train. Everything was Covid friendly and all rules adhered to do it felt perfectly safe. The ride on the train was lovely and smooth and everything was impeccably clean. The gifts from Santa were really good as well. Thank you for a lovely day…

Journey out with friends
We had a day out on this steam railway to Cheltenham racecourse then to Broadway and back. When we stopped at the racecourse refreshments were on sale at the station. We had a carriage all to ourselves and it was extremely Covid friendly

Such fun
Gosh, what a wonderful day we've had. Must be one of the best of the heritage railway genre, well organised, stunning steam locos and lovely devoted volunteers, who took a pride in their hobby. Not cheap but you get a long train ride through interesting countryside and without threaded Covid-19, there would have been even more to see and do. Recommended as a dose of nostalgia for the children of the 50s and 60s and simply enthralling for youngsters.…
