You walk up to this stunningly beautiful building, which looks like it has some amazing interiors but it predominantly closed only open for functions.
The cafe attached to it is overpriced (£2.50 for a small cup of tea - not in a tea pot) and is on a raised platform that sounds and feels like herds of elephants are trampling past every time a person goes by.
Definitely worth seeing but don’t eat/drink there and don’t expect too much.

My wife and I went to the Heritage Cafe, Pittvile Park, Chetenham on 26th May and ordered and paid for two cappuccinos at 10.40am. We waited 30 minutes to be served only after complaining.
Terrible service and coffees were cold.
The tables need to be numbered to help the people serving.
Not good enough Cheltenham

Was happy to see the new ‘temporary’ structure at the pump rooms which looked ok. However, it was really noisy inside so sat outside with all the dogs. Not good as my companion is wary of them. The young man at the till was very pleasant and served me very efficiently. I was then given a number to wait for my coffee so joined a group of people all waiting. I watched as the barista poured two coffees out of an urn and was surprised when these turned out to be for me, having ordered two black Americanos! I asked if they were americanos to be told in a surly fashion “yes”. The coffee itself was not very pleasant so was very glad I didn’t pay an extra £1 for a large! Overall a very disappointing experience. They certainly need to brush up on their coffee terminology as an Americana should be made fresh! Will certainly give this a miss in the future

When I read 'Heritage Deco Cafe' on the website I couldn't wait to have a look. After travelling for over an hour to get there I discovered a semi-permanent marquee type structure, metal frame with a fabric roof. The only real acknowledgment to Art Deco I noticed were two japanese style screens (not in use) in the dreadful 1980's faux plastic deco style. Stupidly I assumed that the word 'heritage' actually means something authentic and worth travelling for. In consideration of the location, right next to a beautiful Regency facade I could be excused for my grave error. To make matters worse, on arrival a dish of the day 'A' board right by the entrance, offered vegetarian lasagne but at the counter we were told that they are not doing hot food today as there is a function (wedding) on in the main building (which I later worked out cooks the food for this grotty little 'cafe'. The toilets were housed in a caravan type thing parked round the back. My advice. Take a picnic.

The annexed café is just dreadful, I can’t think of one positive!

Staff are rude and disinterested, the coffees and hot chocolate were revolting and expensive. Apparently the machines had been busy today, what a rip-off.

If you want a nasty machine-made drink and to get fleeced at the same time, this is the place for you!

I have given up on this place - the cafe structure outside, i.e. the cafe and associated outbuildings, and the under-appreciated inside. The tent cafe is ugly, noisy and the coffee and food hit and miss. Allowing dogs inside is a mistake, as tables are too crowded and most dogs lie in the walkways and you trip over them if not careful. Dogs can stay outside surely, as there are nice tables and chairs on the terrace. If it's cold, the cafe could provide blankets as at other cafes. As for inside the Pump Room inside, most times I have been it is empty and between events. Som etimes the historypanels are up but it is so lifeless and quite daunting to walk in. I wanted to taste the mineral water again but it is still not available - seems like tears now. There is no helpful information about when it will be restored.

I am trying to find out if I can get into the Pump Room in the next week or so with some tourists but I cannot find any information. Some websites say the cafe is open and there are events on some days. But it doesn't say you can go inside. Even the tourist office website doesn't have anything. This seems very strange. Please help, someone.

Dear CynicalUk, what a shame you didn’t check our website where there is a dedicated heritage trail page with all the open viewing days until April 2022 or our social media where the dates have been published. We are in the process of identifying additional dates which will be uploaded shortly. If you contact us at customer.contact@cheltenhamtrust.org.uk and let us know the dates and times you are interested in bringing your group of tourists to the pump room, we will see if it is possible to arrange something. We are in the process of replacing the pump room website, the new one will have a calendar showing everything happening at the pump room.

So much potential but fails miserably. Too many staff doing not a lot at all. Dirty tables, floors need sweeping & a little more tentative with customers goes along way.
Shockingly overpriced food which wasn’t fully cooked, sausage rolls & chicken bakes had to be sent back. At £3.50 for a small sausage roll and £4.50 for a chicken bake is absolutely scandalous… Management of this establishment really need to turn this place around.. £25 each for an afternoon tea is just ridiculous. Certainly won’t be returning…

Hi, thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your experience at the Heritage Café and we have passed on your feedback to our management team. The afternoon tea which you are referring to was part of a Christmas children's event, which included a storytelling session and afternoon tea for the parents.

Was really looking forward to dropping in for a coffee on my walk. Could be a great addition to the Park once they get it right. Slow service and the most expensive coffee I can remember buying, £4 for a takeaway coffee in a paper cup which was mainly full of froth. Coffee was good but way over priced.
This could of been a regular coffee stop for me and my friends but unfortunately the feeling of being ripped off will mean we will go elsewhere.
Real shame.

We had a lovely birthday gathering at the Orangery the other morning, when a friend had a big birthday, and we all gathered for coffee. The staff were very kind to us and looked after us beautifully, many thanks!
This Orangery cafe is a superb asset to the town, and we must resist all efforts by misguided folk to remove it.
