The Golden Fleece, a freehouse steeped in Stroud's heritage, is a popular destination for real ale connoisseurs and is renowned for it's gourmet bar snacks, including some of the finest, home-made burgers Stroud can offer. Reopened in August 2015, the Golden Fleece is freshly renovated, in-keeping with the style of the 18th Century building. In the winter months, our log burger provides warmth and ambiance to our wood panelled front bar. In warmer weather, our beer garden is a hidden gem of Stroud and can be quite a sun trap. Known to some as "The Jazz Bar", through the years The Golden Fleece has acquired reputation for music of eclectic style and origin. We continue this trend to this day with regular live music nights.

Nice pub, good beer garden. However I can't help but miss the old pub. Needs more pictures on the wall, the lights are too bright in the back room. Friendly women (guessing she... read more

Popped in for a pint on my way home from the Stroud Fringe and although the pint was good the whole place smelled of damp dish rag. Not a good atmosphere.

Lovely little pub, serving really good selection of ales, beer and lagers. Friendly atmosphere and a bit of a Tardis really, as the garden out the back is pretty big. Food is available, though not the biggest menu in the world, it is still tasty. Good for families with small children and the bar staff are a hoot! Reach the... More

Our first visit on a cold Monday. Positives - good range of beers and well lit. Negatives - disengaged barman and a bit snooty. Cold room. Food bits on the tables. It's a fair attempt at a young and hip bar but in reality it falls short. A smile and a duster would help

The Golden Fleece good to see all the original paneling once again exposed after being hidden for years behind plaster and paint - and the pub is relaxing and warm It has always been a good pub but in later years it had begun to need a spruce up - It is always a shame when some things we have... Enjoying the new look! Great tasting burgers and a decent range of ales and craft beers. The modern decor and the relaxed vibe make this the perfect place to meet up with friends. Cheers!

While delighted that The Golden Fleece has remained as a pub and reöpened, this was a side-street gem that did not need the 'improvements' lavished on it by its new owners. The clichéd minimalist monochrome formula which wrecked its sister pub (The Bisley House up the road)—white walls, grey woodwork, bright lights—has been applied here almost as ruthlessly. Previously strong... More

We are so pleased that this has had a new lease of life. A cracking pub with great ales and ciders, with some of the best burgers we've ever tasted. A real local gem.

Nice pub, good beer garden. However I can't help but miss the old pub. Needs more pictures on the wall, the lights are too bright in the back room. Friendly women (guessing she was the manager) other staff not as aware of the people in the pub. Busy for a Wednesday. I will return on a Friday or Saturday.

Small pub that has been completely renovated, agree with some of the other reviewers that the pub is quite dark and echoey, would be nice if there was some more soft furnishings. The burgers and chips are really tasty and the beer garden is nice. The burgers are served quite pink and would have been good to have been told... More
