I Visited the museum today as I had some time to kill and am interested in history. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of locally found artifices from dinosaur bones to children's toys. There is also a cafeteria area and really clean toilets. The museum is housed in a lovely old building but they have installed a lift for... More

This is a great visit. An excellent local museum in a delightful setting in Stratford Park so next to the park and the leisure centre and within walking distance of the town centre too. Good displays....manageable and very children friendly. Reflects perfectly Stroud's fascinating and important history....quirky, ancient, industrial. There is a good temporary exhibition gallery and a very active... More

We enjoyed the whole experience, from a warm welcome, to browsing the exhibits, the newly planted and landscaped walled garden and the travelling exhibition in the recently built wing. The donation collection point is an interesting mechanical device that entertains whilst taking your money! Coffee from the machine is good. There is a fine learning centre in the garden area... This museum is set in the beautiful Stratford Park and is itself an extended historic stone building with a beautiful garden and orangery. The museum itself gives a really well presented history of the Stroud area pre-history to the present day with interesting exhibits and simple competitions for younger visitors. It also houses an art gallery and other displays in... More

I visit quite often, usually with my children (2 and 5) and sometimes my parents (late 70s) and we always find something of interest. The gallery has good exhibitions which change every few weeks. The museum covers many aspects of local history and aspects of life in the past like farming, transport, brewing high interesting artefacts. In the holidays they... More

Well laid out with fascinating displays and stories. As a new resident in Stroud I learnt a lot about my new home town and its origins. Great for the whole family and a new walled garden recently opened is good for fair weather visits

This museum is located in a lovely park just a few minutes walk from the centre of Stroud. Very interesting and well thought out exhibits. A good selection of items to buy in the gift shop and cafe shop.

a wonderful museum for adults and children. There are always special exhibitions or events on and the staff are exceptionally helpful. The newly opened walled garden is a lovely permanent addition.
