About
Even though it is a bit of hike to get to, this ancient burial mound is worth the effort, especially towards dusk when the site becomes magical in appearance.

Well preserved 5,000 year old burial mound

Very good interpretation board with information about the site. Also, great variety of wild flowers growing here.

Lovely walk to an interesting long barrow
Aug. 2020
There is a layby at the start of the footpath, with a notice regarding car thieves. The walk is pleasant, but fairly steep with uncertain footing, so sensible shoes are advised. As you emerge from the woods, the path goes left around the edge of the field, though some have taken a shortcut that can be clearly seen. There is, however, a notice asking people not to use the shortcut, which should be respected (we actually didn't notice the sign until after we used the shortcut).

There are gorgeous views at the top of the hill before the path follows the edge of a wood. The long barrow is in good condition, and is one of the most complex we have seen with three entrances plus the grand false entrance. The original views from the barrow are obscured by trees. I should hope that the National Trust will buy the wood at the first opportunity and remove the trees. The barrow was placed there because of its position, and some of the context is lost by not being able to see the view.

A muddy walk
Mar. 2020 • Couples
On a clear day between lots of rain we followed the Cotswolds Way from Winchcombe across fields and up steep slopes to this Neolithic barrow on top of the hill. An impressive sight as we walked along the track, like a sleeping giant on the edge of the wood. The walk up here was relatively easy, the walk back less so. We had to wade through ploughed fields, which with all the rain had become a quagmire. A good walk though perhaps better done in dry weather.

Amazing burial mound
Feb. 2020
Not the easiest burial mound to access so when you arrive, it feels quite isolated and that adds to the atmosphere. We parked at the nearest parking spot and walked up which took around 15 minutes. It's relatively steep in parts and was very muddy when we visited, and it was also very windy but that all added to the experience and atmosphere, although it did mean we didn't hang around too long to enjoy the spot.

Really worth the visit.

Nice walk from winchcombe
Dec. 2019 • Friends
The walk up to BELAS Nap from winchcombe is fairly easy , one short sharp slope , then a grassy up hill field , but for most regular walkers it’s not a problem , the site itself is very interesting , we continued over to Cleeve hill .

A Good Hike
Sep. 2019 • Couples
Definitely a good walk to the top, but it's totally worth it. Be careful as several places are on a fairly deep incline. Can be extremely muddy on path and very windy at top, so dress accordingly.
This barrow is massive and in excellent condition, therefore giving you a wonderful glimpse into the past.
This place is definitely worth a visit. We stayed a couple of hours and that included walk time.
There is limited parking at the beginning of the trail (bottom of hill) on side of road.

Worth the short walk

Park by the English Heritage sign and walk up a short hill and around a field. Then you see the long barrow and stunning views. Worth the short hike.

We came across this Long Barrow whilst walking the Cotswolds way - we stopped and wandered round and read the information boards. Fascinating history.

Really interesting
Jul. 2019 • Family
If you are a fan of archaeology and history this should interest you. A nice walk up to the site - park on the road in the lay-by where the English Heritage sign is. The walk is a little steep by not bad and benefits from some wonderful views. The site itself is fabulous- not loads to see but a really interesting place to visit non-the-less. Tip - do a little research about Neolithic and long barrows before going will make it more worthwhile.
