Well worth seeking out, not very easy to find. Tiny church with remnants of medieval wall paintings. Very atmospheric

Beautiful unspoilt church

Happened to be passing following a diversion - a wonderful find. Totally "unimproved" with ancient pews, tiles and beautiful wall paintings - and no electric light. Adjacent to Hailes Abbey (closed in Winter) but well a worth a detour.

Lovely

I have visited this church several times because it is one of my favorite places to visit. This church dates to the 11th or 12th century (I forgot exactly when it was built). It is a small church with a small churchyard. The paintings in the area near the alter are exquisite. The entire site is extremely peaceful. It is a true gem.

Beautiful little church

We popped in here before visiting the Abbey and we are so glad we did. Steeped in history and one of the only churches to have non-religious fresco on the walls... I believe.

Small ancient church with amazing murals (considering the age and content). Make sure you go in good daylight as no electric.

Old church
Jun. 2019 • Couples
Situated opposite Hailes Abbey you cant miss it. The old church is set in its own grounds, with quite a few very old wall painting and tiles on the flloor. You will see quite a few grave markings on the floor, giving away the age of the church. You can see it like all of these places would of looked magnificent in its hey day. There is a staircase that you cannot access which is a pity.

If you’re walking by, have a look in.

This is no magnificent cathedral but it is a very old village parish church in the Cotswolds. If memory serves it was constructed in the 13th century.

Hidden Gem
May 2019 • Couples
Not the most spectacular of churches from the outside. Even when you go in you may feel disappointed by the run down appearance but look around and you will see medieval floor tiles, 13th century wall paintings and question why the abbey ruins opposite is in the hands of English Heritage and wonder if the diocese might consider an approach to the National Trust to ensure this rare and unique treasure is saved and maintained.

Great place opposite Hailes Abbey

Visited this church on a walk I was doing and it is opposite the Hailes Abbey (operated by English Heritage and there is a fee for that if you are not an EH member) but the church is free

It is also on the Cotswold Way so a good place to visit en-route

Tiny church
Apr. 2019 • Friends
This is a tiny Norman church opposite Hailes Abbey. The wall paintings although faded are very interesting. The medieval floor tiles are still colourful. Well worth a visit.
