This small but well planned museum covers from prehistory to the present day (with a section on Jane Eyre). It's superbly laid out in a lovely building with enough scope for younger visitors. Enjoyable and informative - and free, though contributions are much welcomed!

Some interesting displays. Three floors each dealing with a particular period (Roman, Saxon/Norman and Victorian). Highlights for me were the mosaic on the top floor and the huge model of the city in the 1870s. Free entry as well though donations obviously welcomed.

Not a great deal to see but it was well organised and the city model was very informative. Learnt about Jane Austen too. Have a look in for half an hour, it's worth it!

Very interesting small museum over 3 floors, children can have a hands on experience and dress up in the clothes of the period - i.e. roman, Tudor etc.

It’s free to get in but I gave a donation as asked for by the staff - which I wish I hadn’t as we stayed for two minutes. Inside was a very good model city of Winchester. However that was it. If there were other...More
