As part of a long walk beside the Itchen and the old railway, we decided to climb the Hill for the view. 333 steps up but quite shallow so not hard on the knees. Impressive views from the top plus a old maze

Well, its the local iron age hill fort (one of them), with water meadows at the bottom in a chalk stream and a river walk between winchester and southampton, with st cross nearby. what more do you want?

On this cold and frosty morning we unbelievably managed to pull ourselves from under our duvet and went for a walk with our two Jack Russell's Tilly & Rees . What a refreshing experience walking along the canal path to the bottom of St Catherines...More

There is a walk called Itchen Way that will lead to St. Catherine's hill but it is a distance from the end of Winchester high street and you will need a dry day. Good veiws.

Had a lovely walk up, great spot to get view of Winchester Uni (and the M3). No sign of the maze or a chapel? Confused.

A 20-25 minute hike up the hill, sometimes with steps, brings a stunning view of the city! Having gone just before sunset, it was amazingly beautiful and a view that went to miles! Sadly, we missed the sheep :-( Wear good hiking shoes or sneakers!

This is a great place to go for a relaxing, not too strenuous walk, and perhaps a picnic on a nice summers day. Be aware that in bad weather it can be rather windy at the top!
