A great walk on a rare sunny day. The route was quite busy when we started off at Winchester. We will return to complete a longer section of the route on another occasion.

For the best route, follow signs to the water meadows and walk along the river to St Cross Hospital, then walk over Five Bridges Road to join up with the Itchen Navigation trail. Much prettier and more peaceful than following the Itchen Navigation route out...More

Enjoyed a walk along the river Itchen in Winchester , not far down from the tourist office. Even on a cold Dec day was charming and quiet, bit muddy in places . Water looked very clear . Walk over the bridge to water mill.

A friend and i walked from our homes in Southampton to Winchester city centre. IWe walked 19km in total. It was a lovely walk. A little muddy n places so go prepared but managed in trainers.
