Created as the perfect house in the perfect setting, Berrington has many secrets to uncover. Here in one of Henry Holland’s first houses, you can explore the family rooms and walk in the servants’ footsteps down the back stairs, moving around the house unseen by the family and guests. You will find out what happened to William Kemp, LordCawley’s butler, and discover the anguish of a grieving mother during the First World War. Alternatively why not join a below-stairs tour to see if you would have liked being a servant at Berrington?

Recently we revisited Berrington Hall again after a gap of several years. Unfortunately on the day we visited the weather was cold and the mist seriously limited the views. That was a great pity as on a clear day the views from Berrington Hall are quite amazing as one can see the Black Mountains well into Wales. Capability Brown's last... More

We visited on a cold rainy day in March, travelling by car. I make this particular point because the entrance gateway and the road leading up to the house is quite narrow and then to get into the car park there is a very sharp turn through another narrow gated road into a fairly small car park. We also have... More

Visited last weekend . Great old house to mooch around. The dinning room has an art piece laid out on the table a must see, just interesting to look at with all the detail. You can take a tour below stairs as they say, or wander yourself into the servants quarters. If anyone has watched Downton it's all looks so... More

The Hall is impressive without being overwhelmingly large. The park has a good variety of walks for you and your dog. Good cafe, and picnics allowed.

We visited on a cold wet Saturday, which meant there were no crowds and we could take out time wandering through all the rooms. Not a huge amount to see upstairs, although some interesting marble effects are worth checking out, but the below stairs tour was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining add unusual in a stately home to have the butler... Apart from being one of the Trust's most beautiful properties anyway, Berrington Hall presently has a piece of art on the dining room table, entitled War and Pieces. I am not a lover of 'unconventional' art, but this piece is magnificent and we spent at least 15 minutes staring at it. The piece is spell-binding and has to be seen... More

We have been members of the National Trust for well over with years and can't remember another site that left us so disappointed. The first thing is the car park, which is very badly laid out so maneuvering our small car was awkward. A Monday sized car would have been a nightmare! The downstairs area of the house is interesting... More

We visited Berrington Hall on a day approaching the colder time of year, but were pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome from staff. Although parts of the site close during the winter season, many parts remain open and the cafe/shop are the typical National Trust fare. Well worth a visit and unlike some other properties, the interior is fully decked... More

What a spectacular location for a house! Far reaching views to Hay Bluff, Brecon Beacons and the Black Mountains. Very fine house though, for me, it is the walled garden and parkland that are the main attraction. I will be interested to see how the walled garden develops over the seasons - it is only just "waking up" in March... More

From the under stairs tour to the Ladies in the Dressing Room on Wednesdays this was worth our second visit in a week at the expense of other NT properties!
