As another reviewer has said, this very old building is unsuitable for those with reduced mobility because of steep staircases etc. It is not in fact free to enter but the price is reasonable: £2.50 for an adult. The location map was incorrectly showing Hay-on-Wye, quite some distance from Hereford, so I have submitted a correction to Trip Advisor. Unfortunately... More

If you are visiting the lovely city of Hereford, right in the centre of the busy high street you will find this ancient medieval dwelling. It is full of many interesting items, documents, furniture & other artifacts which were used many centuries ago. This place is full of history & is well worth a visit.

Construction techniques used in these old black and white buildings, the family life of a merchant, toys - all were touched on in the museums displays. Interesting place to wander round without being too large to take it all in!

This is like going back in time. Absolutely beautiful if you like old black and white houses. Situated in the centre of Hereford it's a testament to our past. Not very accessible for the less able as being an historic building there wouldn't be much manoeuvrability. Old crooked stairs etc.

The Old House images a peaceful and festive lull from shopping in HiTown Hereford where market day is Thursday. Take the family they will love it!

A genuine tudor timbered house, preserved in great detail, free to enter and fascinating to explore inside, wonky floors, wall painting preserved, and period furniture give you a real feel of the old place as it must have been, a great little freebie on a wet day in Hereford.

This old wonky building is preserved and run by the local council. It’s free entry and must be worth anyone’s time to have look at what housing for a (presumably) wealthy merchant was like back in the 1600’s. Particularly amazed by the amount of light in the bedroom upstairs as we understand glass was a real status symbol back then.... More
