The Pantiles is an area of 70+ independent stores offering a shopping experience uniquely suited to finding that special something and rarely found in other shopping centres. Almost entirely all owner-run there are a variety of specialist shops, art galleries, cafés, restaurants and bars each offering their own particular style of trading. Festivals involving Jazz, Food and Fashion are frequent along with fortnightly Farmers' and Craft Markets showcasing the best of the region's talent. Immerse yourself in the 400 year old history of the location brilliantly reflected in the elegant tree flanked colonnaded walkway. Summer months also present visitors with the opportunity to sample the waters of the Chalybeate (pronounced Ka-lee-bee-at) Spring whose discovery back in 1606 marked the beginning of Royal Tunbridge Wells.

I was expecting more..... The shops were hardly exciting, not the sort that would entice you in for a look. The eateries were overpriced and uninspiring....the whole place had a shoddy almost starting to feel run down look about it. Very disappointing.

I don't know quite what I was expecting, but it was more than there was. The shops were not particularly special and there seemed to be a lot of cafes/ bars/ restaurants. Sorry Tunbridge, but I was underwhelmed.

This small area has so much history attached t it and the building really set the imagination going back to bygone eras. The music gallery at one end is quite delightful. There is a market on the 1st and 3rd weekend of the month (we missed it). I enjoyed the architecture and people watching. Several places to sit and eat.... More

Went here for a long weekend and absolutely loved the quirky little shops, so many items that you just don't see in your modern shopping centres with same ol shops which can get very boring. I loved the atmosphere and al fresco dining and would recommend

We enjoyed strolling along the pantiles looking at the shops wandering amongst the market stalls. We had breakfast in the pantiles cafe which was very good. We had a drink in the duke of York and the Pantiles Tap. Well worth a look something for most people

Beautiful and full of history, interesting buildings, fully pedestrianized, Georgian colonnade, nooks and crannies. Really stunning architecture and Chalybeate Springs at one end. Independent shops for really unusual jewellery, gifts, kitchenalia, several art galleries. Great for all ages.

We visited the Pantiles as part of our visit to Tunbridge Wells. The Pantiles were developed around the Chalybeate medicinal Spring which was discovered in 1606. The Spring is located near the Tourist Information Centre. The local walkway was paved with Pantiles which are curved tiles. The walkway is full of small specialist shops and dining establishments. We spent a... More

We stopped here on the way to Chatham on a coach trip. I wont bother again. The few eateries around were closed and the pavement was very uneven.

The pantiles is presumably trying nowadays to emulate london's covent garden. It fails dismally! Not particularly impressed! We were looking for somewhere to eat. Went to look at the menu at the Ragged Trousers. A couple were sitting outside trying to eat the most inedible looking plates of food i have ever seen. Good job they were there as we... More
