The Streetlife museum is set by the river in the museum quarter, right next to the city's last sidewinder trawler, the Arctic Corsair. Amazingly, the museum is free to enter. It contains a huge number of transport-related artefacts, from trams and a shunting engine to a selection of steam-powered cars. There's an interesting bike museum, and an area devoted to... More

We visited this museum with our 2 grand children aged 4 and 9. Both of them were enthusiastic and properly enjoyed the visit. Lots to see and some interactive experiences too which we all enjoyed. We stayed about 1.5 hrs which isn't bad going for young children (and us)

Went as a family, 3 adults and 3 young children. We had a splendid couple of hours. Plenty of 'hands on' exhibits and even the 2 year old wasn't bored! Loved the retro amusements.

Located in the old town which makes the history of the museum feel really authentic! It's a quiet, aesthetically pleasing area where you can take a breather from the city centre chaos. The building itself is large, inside there are so many different things to see. You can go onto the old trams/buses and experience what it used to be... More

Brilliant museum with fantastic exhibits. From cobbled streets and trams to old fashioned shops and bikes. Take a simulator ride in an old horse drawn carriage and feel what is what like to travel in days gone by...6 hours to London...good fun. The railway gallery is great and you actually go into a proper signal box, the old fashioned style.... More

Generally meticulous attention to detail characterises this comprehensive recreation of street scenes that include carriages, motor vehicles, shops, mews yards and workshops. Pleasant and helpful staff, and a lift for those who need to avoid the stairs to a terrific top floor.
