We called at Burton Constable this week while having a short break near Hornsea. The hall was closed , but it was worth a visit just for the tea rooms . There is a dog friendly area inside , and outside seating . However we sat in the spacious cafe area in the main room , and enjoyed excellent food... More

The house was not open when we visited although the grounds (fee payable) are pleasant for a short walk. Includes a children's play area and small display of agricultural equipment and carriages. And the bones of a whale! Not often I have written that! We did though vist The Stables tea room which was very good. The food was excellent... More

I have visited this delightful 'stately home' on a number of occasions, on each of them the weather was glorious so this may have coloured my impression but, even so, this is a place NOT to be missed. The Hall itself is a delight, with rooms full of colour, furniture, fittings and all those things you expect in a such... More

Burton Constable is fast gaining fans as it promotes itself as 'Hull's Stately Home' during the city's Year of Culture. By heading out of the Hull or Beverley towards Sproatley or Skirlaugh the spectacular building appears round a corner as you come down the scenic lanes around the Hall. Inside there are 30 rooms to see so allow enough time.... More

This is a very interesting place to visit, you are taking around the home by a very well informed guide, who tells you all about the hall and its history, it is very nice inside and lovely to see all the different rooms and styles of old, there is a small gift shop and a very nice cafe, serving light... Just a few miles from the eastern edge of Hull, Burton Constable is a gem. A largely Elizabethan House, Burton Constable has a wonderful range of original and unique features. If you visit a tour of the house is a must, so leave the very tempting restaurant and cafe within the large stable block till later. You can walk of... More
