We walked to the falls after taking the ferry from Bowness to Ambleside. It begins on a road and then turns into a wooded trail with several little bridges and falls at the end. It’s very easy and quite pretty. Heavily trafficked.

Very short walk, nice to do if you are in the neighborhood already. I would not say it is worth taking a long car ride for. It is a nice but small waterfall. As far as I could tell there is no walk/ hike tour...More

Walked up from Ambleside and took plenty of selfies up here with the waterfall in full flow. Crossed the bridge and got lost, I think our guide book is out of date. Ended up climbing a fence onto the road and adding a few miles...More

Stock Ghyll isn't the biggest waterfall you will see, however, it is a short hike in a woods and certainly worth a look if you are in the area.

As we arrived in Ambleside in the afternoon, we decided to wander up to see the waterfalls after lunch. It was a nice walk with some steps uphill with some lovely pitstops/ viewing areas of the waterfall. I would leave around 1.5 hours if you...More

A short hike up a hill in Ambleside to see quite a beautiful little waterfall. Stock Ghyll park is very lush from what I saw. Didn't explore much other than the waterfall, but worth spending 30 to 45 mins to go and see it if...More

Arrived in Ambleside and went straight to the tourist office/ post office to add if it was worth the effort due to the reduced water everywhere. The gentleman was pretty rude and answered that "of course there's water!" Well not much to be fair. It's...More

Not a bad walk up from Ambleside town centre. Really pretty to walk through the Stock Ghyll Park trees with the water trickling by. If going in spring/summer would recommend wearing some bug repellent. Make sure you walk all the way to the top of...More

it is only few hundred meters from the city centre. you can walk around in slightly hilly terrain to reach to the waterfall. the fall is not that great, but the sound of leaves is good, nothing much to do in this city
