We are not particularly fit but we managed to climb the Old Man and complete the circular walk in 4 hours. Part of it is kind of steep and covered with pebbles/slates, and some part can be very boggy/wet. You just need to make sure...More

A long and steep climb to to the top, but fantastic views on a clear day. We walked up with two children who are very fit but was their first proper mountain walk. Took around 6 hours for a round trip, with stops for lunch...More

Certainly worth the climb for amazing views despite being very busy. Not a secluded place so be prepared. Take a less popular route to avoid the crowds.

We had a great day for the walk but still took extra kit with us - just in case. We'd vaguely planned a circular walk but missed a turn and ended up being up on the tops much later than we'd planned. Don't underestimate the...More

This is a lovely walk with some amazing views over Coniston Water and beyond. The weather conditions were less than optimal but thanks to some well maintained paths, it was not too arduous apart from a bit of a scramble at the top. We ascended...More

You'll have no issues at all. I'm nearly 50 and make an annual pilgrimage every year for charity. Wouldn't consider myself fit and I do struggle in mid section of steps but slow and steady wins the race. Enjoy
