About
Come and meet our alpacas... We are based in the south of Kendal on the edge of the Lake District a UNESCO world heritage site and would love you to come and enjoy the experience of spending time with our fur babies. Take an alpaca for a walk, come and meet our herd at their home by booking a 'Meet & Greet' or we can bring our alpacas to you! Residential Care homes, schools, activity centres or party venues, the possibilities are endless. You will fall in love with these fluffy, inquisitive animals by the end of your visit and hopefully have learnt a lot more about them. Our walk is over The Helm to the south of Kendal, a public access hill with 360 degree panoramic views over Kendal and the surrounding Lakeland and Yorkshire fells. For people of any age and most abilities we offer a "Meet & Greet" at the alpacas home 5 minutes from J36 of the M6. Come and spend time with these quirky, inquisitive animals, feed them, enjoy their company. Go to our website for full details.

- Hayleigh S7 contributionsA little of everything tour - amazing family experienceMy husband, daughter and I spent a really great couple of hours with Jane and her alpaca herd. The little of everything tour was perfect for our 6 year old as it was really informative, interactive and had a variety of activities (feeding the alpacas, walking your chosen alpaca and crafting with alpaca felt). Highly recommend to everyone, young and old.Thank you very much for your lovely comments, I am really please you all enjoyed this experience as I try to make sure it is enjoyable for both children and adults alike.Written October 28, 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten October 23, 2023
- Sharon S2 contributionsAdorable alpacas, near KendalJane was so lovely, helpful and informative. She helped to support my brother, who has learning disabilities, to enjoy meeting, feeding and stroking the alpacas at his own pace and in his own way. It was a delight to spend time with these characterful animals and I will definitely find time to go on a walk with them in the near future. Highly recommended.Thank you so much for your lovely comments, I really enjoyed our morning and your brother was great, glad he enjoyed himself too. - Pamela JKendal, United Kingdom2 contributionsMeet and greet the Wreay Syke Alpacas. We'll definitely go back in the summer to meet the new additions due. sA half-term treat for our 4 year old granddaughter Emi, we were pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed it too. So lovely to meet the Alpacas with all their different personalities, their calm and gentle curiosity soon won over Emi and she overcame any nervousness and wanted to take one home with her. The lovely knowledgeable talented Jane fascinated us all with alpaca facts as we met them all close up. Will go again.Thank you so much for your lovely comments and really happy Emi eventually got brave enough to enjoy herself. Was it Kiki or Galaxy she wanted to take home?! Keep an eye on our social media, we always post photos of any newborns when they happen.Written February 13, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten February 12, 2024
- mark s10 contributionsA little of everything experienceWent today March 16th with my wife for the "little of everything" experience. What a great afternoon! Got to meet all the Alpacas, fed them and got to take a couple of them for a walk around the paddock. Jane, our host was brilliant! Very friendly and welcoming and gave us a very informative talk about the Alpacas, their background and how she and her husband came about owning and breeding Alpacas. Then we got to see how Jane makes the felt from the Alpaca wool that she uses to produce some lovely products which again was very informative. Brilliant afternoon and would highly recommend this activity for anyone of any age. We both would definitely come back again.Thank you so much for your lovely comments and really glad you both enjoyed yourselves. Look forward to meeting you again in the future 😊 ......and it all began because my husband wanted an allotment.....Written March 28, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten March 16, 2024
- Barbara H2 contributionsA birthday treat that was a health and well-being gift too. This was a surprise outing for a special birthday, with dress code wellie boots and trousers! Eight members of the family spanning three generations shared the experience. We were met by the 'boys' at the gate to the premises so could enjoy contact with the gentle, friendly alpacas while waiting for the other car load to join us. Jane then talked about the alpacas in her care in a relaxed yet informative way. We were shown how alpacas like to be stroked up and down their soft woolly necks. We learnt about the long pregnancy possible year round for alpacas. Then we moved to join the 'boys' and were gently nuzzled and surrounded by alpacas hoping for a tasy treat. Jane handed us each a bag of grass pellets and showed us how to feed the alpacas, who were expecting tidbits from their visitors. We also fed the girls and the youngsters, who stayed behind their railed area for their safety. We were able to choose which alpaca to walk with, although I felt 'my' alpaca Enzo had chosen me! Individual halters put on by Jane, then a gentle walk uphill across a paddock. The alpacas seemed to prefer the return journey down hill! We all went into a small barn area to see and experience some carding and felting of alpaca fleece. Some alpacas wandered in to join the demonstration. I have been enthusiastically telling friends about my outing. I have also slept well and felt a welcome level of calm.A very thorough run through thank you and so pleased you all enjoyed yourselves, I hadn't realised there were 3 generations. That is our aim of our activities with alpacas, a sense of calm and wellness and a thoroughly enjoyable experience.Written March 28, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten March 23, 2024
- robert sHarrogate, United Kingdom2 contributionsA superb experience meeting Alpacas.A lovely, informative and enjoyable visit to Wreay Syke Alpacas for my wife, I and our 10yr old daughter. From the initial greeting to leaving it was a magical experience with smiles galore. We booked the "Little bit of everything experience" and we got to meet every single one of the Alpacas, hear all about the history of this wonderful little group before feeding them, walking them around and we finally got shown how felt is produced by hand from their coats, with the chance to try it ourselves and take away our own sample piece. This was perfect for us as it didn't tie up a whole day but gave us enough time to truly get to know the herd and their wonderful individual character traits. Highly recommended and ensure you have wellies or similar for the walk as this is the Lakes. Thank you again Jane and Sofia adores her hand warmers and fridge magnet of Carmelo.xThank you so much for your comments. - Beryl W3 contributionsAmazingWonderful afternoon with the Alpacas. It absolutely poured it down all the time we were there but it didn't matter it was amazing. My 3 Grandson were captivated with all the alpacas and as they are 15 and twins twelve it was quite a result. Jane knows all the alpacas so well and soon their personalities begin to show. Would highly recommend this visit. We did the little of everything trip.Thank you for your lovely comments Beryl and it is definitely a result keeping 3 teenage boys happy and entertained. Shame it rained but we do live in the Lake District so has to be expected sometimes. Glad you still enjoyed yourselves and the rain didn't dampen spirits either.Written May 13, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten April 4, 2024

We wanted something a little different for our daughter's 30th birthday and so booked the private alpaca walk for three people.
We arrived at the meeting place and were met by Jane and Paul and the three adorable alpacas. We were given a brief safety talk and set off on our walk .The alpacas are easy to handle once you get the hang of it and Jane is there to advise and guide you -Paul walks ahead to check out any issues such as dogs approaching .The scenery and views are stunning and Paul gives an informative talk -pointing out the various points of interest you can make out from the view.On returning to the meeting spot,Jane shows you pictures of the other alpacas they own and shows you some of the products that are available to buy on their web site.
This was a really different and unusual experience and I would definitely recommend it.I would definitely recommend paying the extra for the private walk.

Romantic February Valentines weekend in the lakes?? We went to meet and greet these wonderful alpacas. Brilliant.
Dennis ( that's storm Dennis) came too. Torrential rain, howling winds but we spent a wonderful informative time in the Alpaca 'shed'. Thanks.

Great communications with Wreay Skye Alpacas (Jane) prior to our walk. Jane and Paul are relaxed and friendly hosts who clearly care for and love their alpacas.
We had a most enjoyable couple of hours walking these friendly and intriguing animals and learning about them and the surrounding area.
Would highly recommend a alpaca experience with Wreay Skye, top marks from us

Excellent experience of meeting alpacas. Jane was clearly very knowledgeable about them and conveyed this in a warm and friendly manner. The little items available to buy made from alpaca wool are lovely and there was no pressure to buy.
An enjoyable part of our 30th wedding anniversary celebrations.
We will certainly recommend the experience to others. Thank you Jane.

My sister and I had an excellent morning on the alpaca trek across the Helm. Paul and Jane where great made us all very welcome, explained what we would be doing and guided us safely across the helm in a deluge of rain.
The alpacas are very friendly and cute and make the trek thoroughly enjoyable. We would highly recommend the trek to all.
Thank you Paul & Jane. Perfect.

We did the Meet and Greet. We were welcomed by Jane who we had been in email contact with. She chatted about how they ended up with a herd of alpacas, pointed out each animal by name, we then went in with the males with a small bag of treats and feed them, then we went in with the females and babies and feed them. The animals were gorgeous, if a little damp ( it is the Lake District after all). A fantastic experience. Truly multi generational, our group of eight ranged from 5 through to 83 and we all had stupid grins.

Booked as a birthday gift, we chose the Helm walk with Alpacas. We both thoroughly enjoyed our trip. The Alpacas are lovely and friendly And very biddable; Jane and Paul are great guides who are on hand to help out but trust you to lead and direct your alpaca. Absolutely loved the experience and had a great time as well as finding out lots about Alpacas. Would highly recommend as a good way to learn more about these gentle lovely creatures and to experience the countryside. Would definitely love to do again.
