We stopped off in Kendal during a trip from Glasgow to Manchester. Pretty overwhelmed by the congestion for such a small town. We parked up on a street which allowed two hours free parking. Opted to go away from town and had a pleasant walk up to the castle ruins. Once there, it was easy to forget the hustle and... More

We've driven past so often it is unreal so Saturday we decided to take a walk around the remains of the castle ruins. All very pleasant and extremely refreshing when that cold break kicks in. Well worth taking the time to find your way to the carpark and take atoll up and around. The views from the castle over Kendal... More

I visited Kendal castle to take part in a special event that was taking place. The placing of ice figures around the castle. I found the castle easily, there were several street sighs and maps showing the way. The path up to the castle was easy to walk on for me, but people in wheelchairs or crutches may have required... A lovely short walk up from Kendal town is the 12th century Kendal Castle. Well kept (for a ruin!) with picturesque views and lots to photograph. Recommended.

Nice old castle , is a lovely walk , you need to be careful to reach the top of the mountain but once you are on the top you can see Kendal , beautiful 360 degrees views, the entrance is free, the access is easy around the castle grounds but to arrive to the top of the mountain not that... More

Visited this little castle recently with my husband on our honeymoon as a last minute thing to do on a sunny day. Lovely little place to visit and easy access with only a very small walk from where we parked the car (31 weeks pregnant at the time). Really beautiful attraction with amazing views of Kendal from all angles. Would... More

Delighted to have visited this place whilst visiting Kendal for the afternoon. Such amazing views of all over Kendal from the castle, which is at the top of a big hill in the centre of the town. Parked at the top of a street called "Sunnyside" which got us halfway up the hill to start with. Spent a good hour,... More

Kendal castle is a ruin on top of a small hill with views over kendal. My son now six, has played hide and seek, Knights, dragons, football, and fetch (with the dog) for hours. Good spot for a picnic on a nice day. And lots of easy walks upto and around it. Also has a park at the bottom of... More

Not a massive amount to see but interesting all the same. The views are fantastic and it's free! The old turret is pretty cool.
