The Black Swan was a bit of an enigma. It was arguably the nicest looking pub we used during our weekend in Kendal. The style and old fashioned decor was lovely, with lots of splendid wood furnishings and features; and there was even a cosy...More

Two people behind bar. Seven locals. Only one beer in tap. Overpriced drinks. Filthy threadbare carpet. Nothing nice to say about this place.

A pit stop on the way back to the Beech Hotel. Friendly little pub, good Black Sheep bitter for my other half and jack rabbit vino for me. Enough said . Quiet , unpretentious and good value.

Popped in here last night "for just the one" and ended up staying there for a couple more. Landlord and landlady very friendly and welcoming, dog friendly and a lovely real log fire. Will definitely return when we visit Kendal again.

I come here often and it's worth the short walk up the hill, such a great pub with reasonable priced drinks too (same as wetherspoons without the long wait at the bar..). Often have karaoke nights to keep things interesting and the landlords are bubbly...More
