We went to the slate mine after seeing it on television. There were two experiences: classic and extreme. We're not stupid and chose classic. They said you have to be fit and healthy. I am fit and healthy but could not manage the classic route,...More

Visited on 21/11/17 on a day where the weather was terrible! Firstly, what an amazing viewpoint this would be on a nice day! As it was quiet we had our own private tour with Donald. He was a lovely man and made the tour come...More

Great value via ferrata route inside the old slate workings. Ideal for a wet day, but well worth the money whatever the weather. Very friendly and knowledgeable guide. Highly recommended.

A handy place to stop at the summit of an impressive mountain pass. Car parking, cafe refreshments, a souvenir shop, mine visits and other tourist attracts. Access to the high fells, good starting point for a walk to Great Gable. Worth stopping.

We visited this establishment back in June when we were camping in the area. It was a very nice afternoon and we went for the tour in the mine. A word of warning, the mine can feel a little claustrophobic in places, and if your...More

We did the Via Ferrata back in January with Ken, while there was snow on the ground. Had a great time, Ken is a really good guide. Taking time to explain everything. Great experience, even when it is sub zero, but you do need a...More

Having walked Scafell Pike the day before, we probably could have picked a more relaxing and less testing challenge for our next adventure...but where's the fun in that? We picked the 3pm climb and arrived to find the side of the mine where you climb...More

Stopped here for a snack whilst exploring the lake district. An interesting place with a very welcome cafe. As an attraction it may not be to everybody's taste, but I found it to be worth my visit.

Yes we have the Kimberley Mine tour that runs daily. It's mainly on the level and is a fairly flat surface. It goes approximately 200m inside the mine. It will involve stooping downwards slightly for approximately 40m. I... More

The guide that takes you an the Via Ferrata takes lots of photos of you and others on the route. When you get down from the activity you'll have the chance to look at all the photos on a slide show at the main desk. You'll... More
