What an amazing viewpoint overlooking Derwentwater. We wimped out and took the car all the way to the NT carpark at the top and were happy to pay to stay for 45 mins or so.
Simply spent the time marvelling at the view and taking a few piccies.

What an amzing view, one of the best I would say in the Lake District.
A nice walk up from the lake past the famous Ashness Bridge then to be rewarded with this spectacular view.
Be careful when you are there as its on a steep side of the mountain and it's a long way down

Surprise View and what a surprise it was. The walk from the bridge was a bit long and we would have parked closer if we knew about the car park next to this but the work is worth it. Highly recommended to visit this while you're in lake district.

We parked before Ashness Bridge and walked up to this beauty spot, quite a steady climb took us around 12-15 minutes.
On the way up you wouldn't believe how the view is about to open up through the trees over Derwentwater and across to Catbell's, breath taking and a must if in the area.
Tip - There are chargeable National Trust car parks further up and directly opposite.

Unbelievable view but the road up to it is a mission! The road is smooth but steep and nowhere near wide enough for the traffic on it. On our way up we passed 4 other big 4x4’s and it was difficult to get past.
My main gripe is that the National Trust expect you to pay for parking at the top but can’t be bothered to maintain and widen the road to cope with the traffic using it!
The stone bridge mentioned in other reviews shouldn’t be an issue for most but some warning from NT would be helpful! We got a Range Rover Vogue over it which was very tight but I struggle to see how smaller cars are having an issue?
There was a large camper stuck there on our way down - once again going back to a warning/ signage!

A short drive up to a national trust car park although be warned it’s narrow and not for the nervous. Having said that take it slowly and you’ll be just fine. The car park is literally across the road and you then get the most amazing views of Derwentwater and the surrounding mountains/valleys. As an alternative you can park lower down at Ashness Bridge and it’s an hours hike up and back.

Take Cameras and Binoculars. Great views, especially of Cat Bells and watched Buzzards circling. Best time very early morning or late afternoon. less traffic. Very narrow lane and steep walk if you park at bottom or 2nd Car Park. National Trust pay machines, free for members.

Spectacular views overlooking the lake well worth a visit. There are few car parks for this location one at the bottom of the hill another further up with a 30 minute walk and one at the top next to location. Spaces are sparse. The parking is pay but coins or phone payment only signal isn't great so make sure you have plenty of coins.

This place is beautiful. The parking price is steep if your only spending half hour like we did just to take in the sights. The lake was lovely, we walked a little around it but you can walk all the way around on the path. Lovely place to stop by and see. Just avoid the portaloos.

Surprise View - what a surprise and what a View.
Parked just over the Little Bridge and walked up to the View.
The walk didn't take that long and by doing so the surprise of the view was even better!
There is a car park at the top if the hill walk is a bit too much.
What a beautiful and unspoilt place - perfect photo opportunities.

Yes there is... need to keep going up a very steep narrow track but there is parking right at the top.
