Having stayed in a cottage in Keswick we decided to follow one of the many maps and walk to Castlerigg stone circle. We have driven by the signs many times but never visited previously. We walked from the town towards Warra Crag via a few fields which brought us out at the A591. We followed a lane to a footpath... More

The Castlerigg Stone Circle is an ancient site that was built thousands years ago. It is placed in the centre of fells and mountains, spectacular views are all around!! If you are travelling by car there is space right outside this site. Be sure to wear the correct footwear as the site was very muddy and boggy due to the... More

Interesting little visit. For a photographer like me and an artist like my partner it was very interesting. Not far from the road so easy access but be aware there is not a lot else near !

Fascinating concept, not exactly entertaining or exciting. It's a circle made of stones I don't know why I was expecting something amazing. It is what it says on the tin, no preservatives

It is possible to park relatively close or walk from Keswick. It is a special site which is even more interesting when it is the equinox or the shortest or longest day when people gather to see the sunrise or set. It is an easily accessible site with beautiful, timeless views

Great place to visit and beautiful views. Really enjoyed walking in amongst the stone circle. Enjoyed this stone circle more than Stonehenge. No cost

Interesting piece of history. Well preserved and able to walk round. There is a board explaining the origin of the stones. It is only a small circle so don't expect Stonehenge! Plenty of walks around the area. 1.5miles from Keswick and close to Keswick Newlands Adventure Centre.

We visited on our way home from Keswick. There is an information board at the entrance telling you of the history of the circle. There are great views of the surrounding area in all directions, and we were lucky it was quite a clear day. There are a few different walking routes near the circle as well as an outdoor... More
