Ha! We read about this hike before our trip. The articles made it sound fairly easy, just a 2 tough areas at beginning and end. This 58 year old female and her 66 year old male partner beg to differ. Though I workout about 3...More

Our accommodation advised a walk up Catbells stating it was a moderate but unmissable walk. We all had suitable footwear for a serious climb and so it proved to be. Amazing views which just got better and better as we climbed to the summit. Our...More

The climb up from Brandlehow has the best views in my opinion. Stop frequently (like you're not going to!) and just take in the gorgeous views across Derwentwater; plus you can tell your fellow travellers you're not exhausted you're just soaking up the ambience!

I had a great hiking at Catbells last Monday. Stunning views. Beautiful place. Worth to visit and get tired.

Great introductory walk in Keswick area, with fantastic views over Derwentwater, Bassenthwaite and over Newlands valley. Parking available at bottom, though can be busy or there is a bus service. Easy walk for an afternoon (or evening in summer).

Worth the climb! A bit of scrambling up rocks however we saw several young families at the top and a variety of each generation so it is an achievable walk worth a picnic at the top.

Catbells is a beautiful place with stunning views once you embark on the strenuous climb, but definitely worth the walk. I would recommend it to anyone, we had never done a walk like this before - definitely inexperienced but we took our time and stopped...More

The catbells loop is a great way to get kids started with lakeland walking. The route is steepish in places but very manageable for kids of all ages. Views of Derwentwater from the top are great on a nice day.

A great first time walk but some scrambles to make it seem an adventure. Amazing views from the top.

We regularly walk Catbells when we have time to visit the lakes. We park by the Lodore Falls hotel and then take the southern route up Catbells. Stunning views every time.

Two options really 1. Use the loos in the car park at Glenridding and hold on 2. Find a sheltered spot, squat and go there Set aside your modesty it really isn’t an issue You’ll be fine 👍🏻

Hi, yes, you can choose to go as far as you want. If you arrive there by boat, you can get on the next boat that arrives in about an hour and continue on the boat ride. You can get off at any of the spots and back on again... More
