We are national trust members and the joy of membership is free parking in my locations in the lakes. Parking in Keswick is chaos so we decided to park here. It's literally 1.5 miles from Keswick and a lovely walk arriving lake side. It's quite...More

This walk is alonside the Derwent water in Barrowdale Valley side. It is in most places next to the river and is level. Easy for children, great for dogs who have constant access to lake’s water specially on the hot days. It passes through the...More

A lovely wood that forms part of the Walla Crag and Ashness Bridge walk from the National Trust Car Park in Great Wood. A steady climb all the way with no real lung bursting climbs. Best taken at a leisurely pace and enjoy the views...More

If you are a NT member you can park up for free and easily visit the lakeside rather than pay extortionate amount to park in the towns. Great views.

Moderate difficulty, best starting from Keswick at SpringsRoad so getting fantastic views across Derwentwater from quite a high point. The wood itself is then walked downhill. Relatively few people, sometimes see deer. End up in NT car park but can turn left to Sour Milk...More

We love Great wood, on a nice day. There is parking, but get there early, as on a good day it fills up fast. This has a big field with a gentle stream at the bottom, the kids will play for hours making dams and...More
