A good selection of independent shops and some chains, particularly focusing on walking. There are also plenty of places to eat, both restaurants, cafes and teashops. The road then leads down to the lake and the wonderful views. Worth spending some time

Lovely town and high street but the sheer amount of traffic is horrendous considering how small the streets are which is an awful shame 😥

İt is a beautiful high street with all the shops and restaurants. Take stroll and go into those lovely shops.

There is a small double parade of shops in Windermere itself. The shops are varied yet covers most needs, with several banks, cafe's and supermarkets. A quaint Lakeland town. The Lake itself (namesake) is 1 1/4 miles away, located in Bowness-on-Windermere.

The main street through Windermere is busy but beautiful. Small, independent shops, restaurants & cafes all set in quaint stone building most of which are charming in their own right. Put them all together, on a winding and hilly setting and the effect is magical....More

When visiting the area, I much prefer to wander around Windermere, rather than Bowness which is too touristy and busy. Windermere high street is full of independent stores and quaint and quirky shops, as well as pubs, cafes and restaurants. The gallery shops are my...More

We stopped off here to eat and browse the many small shops. Tried the car park but already full at 11am but did see 1 or 2 odd car parking spots in the street. If you see one grab it! We parked a 5 min...More

In danger of becoming samey in its quest to be different. Many choices of venue but often similar menus, bistro/gastro/inflated prices. A few nice shops, some with treats and some with necessities. Lots of on street short stay parking.

I love coming here the street is close to the lakes, hotels, eateries and bars the street is well kept and well presented the only problem is if you have are a wheelchair user use may find it impossible to negotiate the steep sloping pavements

Parking in or around the actual street is never easy. Better to drive through the town to the Lakeside where there are a couple of bigger car parks and walk back.

Yes there is a Trespass shop on lake road in Windermere and I am sure there are several other outdoors supplies shops in the area as there are so many activities carried out in the areas
