This park is good. Plenty of walking and cycling distance. Natural views around always been good. Family place during day time. Most of the sunny day it get packed up with people and overflows the car park.

This place is always difficult to find, we had a few wrong turns, but got there eventually. This time we walked the canal-side path...the weather was bright and dry so the path was accessible. The last time we came most of the park was flooded,...More

A nice place to spend a few hours. Lakes. Lakes. Lakes. All good if you like lakes, but awful if you have a toddler running free. Don’t follow the main paths as all the best bits are tucked away. Can get very busy on a...More

Pleasant enough but lacked maps and signposting and not much wildlife though we can’t blame them for lack of birds! Better signage especially for which routes are disabled friendly would help greatly.

Watermead is spread out enough to offer quite a few different walks, from a number of starting points. We usually park in Thurmaston village and walk north to loop around King Lear’s lake. There are toilets at the north end but otherwise not much else....More

I do love it down in Watermead Country Park. It was the pits, former gravel pits, when I was a child, but it has been developed into a wonderful park, an oasis in an urban jungle.

Loads of different entrances to the park with plenty to do. Various well looked after bird hides, a boating lake and plenty of sculptures. The walks can take you along the canal to see the narrow boats and to several pubs. Thurmaston lake has tonnes...More

Very good park if you just want to walk and relax. Only issue is there is one car park where you have to pay to park. I can’t understand why this is the case as it’s at the very back of the park

It’s true, dogs aren’t allowed in the lakes but dog owners are far too selfish to think that rule applies to THEIR dog. Unleashed dogs are common place. Watermead needs a dog only portion so everyone else can enjoy the park... More
