For my recent birthday my son treated me to afternoon tea at the restaurant in the Cunard Building, 30 James Street. The building is so beautiful, full of memorabilia connected with the Titanic. The restaurant is so tastefully decorated and the views over Liverpool are wonderful. The High Tea was delicious and very filling - the coffee pot was constantly replenished and it was so comfortable being waited on by Wendy and Jess, who made my birthday so special with their friendliness. For anyone with a fascination with anything to do with the Titanic and a love of fine dining, this restaurant is well worth a visit.

Mid way of the trio of edifices titled The Three Graces, it is a gorgeous build from 1917.
Headquarters of the famous Cunard liner company, its ornate features and attractive designs reflect the wealth and prestige of the business.
At ground floor level the acclaimed British Music Experience has its home.

The corporate headquarters, one of the grand buildings along the waterfront and one of the 3 that you will take photos of. This shipping corporation has had a major presence in this seaside town for way over a century. Product shipping and ocean liners.

The second of the three graces. Sits in between the Royal Liver Building and Liverpool Port Building. Beautiful structure.

Standing next to the Royal Liver this building comes alive when the sun is shining. All three of 'The Graces' buildings shine so brightly when the sun is out. I can imagine 100 years ago that the sight of these on a sunny day as the merchants sailed up the Mersey estuary was probably such a welcome sight.

The Pier Head is a great area of Liverpool's waterfront that's most definitely blessed with some of the finest architecture in our city ,The Three Graces that are The Royal Liver Building ,The Port Of Liverpool Building and The Cunard Building are stunning structures to delight the eye.
The Cunard Building was constructed between 1914-1917 from designs from architects William Edward Willink and Philip Coldwell Thickeness ,a mix of Italian Renaissance and Greek Revival ,it's such an elegant looking building that's very photogenic and if you're near the Pier Head is a building to most definitely check out .

The Cunard Building is one of the iconic Three Graces building at the Liverpool waterfront.
It used to be the headquarters of the Cunard shipping line and is a UNESCO World heritage site.
I saw it several times in quick succession such as the Liverpool Champions League Parade, the best views were from the Isle of Man ferry as it came to dock.

With the 12th of April looming and restrictions being lifted for the hospitality sector with pubs being allowed to reopen with outside service only my twin brother Stephen and I decided to jump the train down from Kirkby to Liverpool City Centre and visit some of the great pubs our city is justifiably famous for, we headed to the Pier Head and took in the sites and as part of The Three Graces which comprise The Royal Liver Building, The Port Of Liverpool Building and The Cunard Building we marvelled at the great architecture of our UNESCO World Heritage Site waterfront.
The Cunard Building is so beautiful, what I find amazing about the construction of this building is the date it was built between 1914 -1917 at the height of the destruction of world war one.
Architect's William Edward Willink and Philip Coldwell Thickeness incorporated several architectural styles including Greek Revival and Italian Renaissance, the building as a whole looks superb wether viewed from the Pier Head or Strand Street, from the waterfront you can see three great statue's namely The Pro Patria Statue, The Commerce Statue and The Industry Statue, these add to the beauty of the building, its a building I highly recommend you visit if you're in the area and easy to locate along the Pier Head.

I used to work for a shipping insurance company in the Cunard Building around 1966
Morrison,Pollexfen and Blair.
I wander if this business is still there.

I worked at Morison Pollexfen and Blair in the early 70's in Fenchurch Street. They were taken over by Furness Withy and then a new company, Brantford International was formed and they moved the company to Barking in Essex. I worked for them until 1977.
