A 15-minute walk from its Anglican counterpart along Hope Street, 1960s' "futurism" best describes the exterior of what's locally know as "Paddy's Wigwam." The huge interiors illuminated by natural light through the exquisite stained glass is worth the journey itself.

Totally different kind of church, very atmospheric, stunning colours of the glass, the acoustics of the place must be amazing.

Well worth a visit to this beautiful modern cathedral. Make sure you walk right round the interior and look at the stained glass.

This is one of the most recognisable cathedrals in the world, nicknamed 'Paddy's Wigwam' or the 'Mersey Funnel' and I have passed it many times. Having finally got around to making the effort to go inside I shall never view it in the same way...More

A design well ahead of its time when it opened in 1966, it is still futuristic, but fits in well with the 21st century. The light inside is beautiful, filtered by the wonderful stained glass panels. This is a "must see" place.

Mind boggling 3000 person Catholic Cathedral with modern design and color. You won't believe your eyes. A great visit for any Catholic.

By comparison with its big brother, the Anglican Cathedral, just down the road, this is small beer; but don't let that remark put you off a visit. Small (by comparison) it may be, but what it lacks in size, it more than makes up for,...More
