Great exhibitions thoughtfully curated. The staff are so helpful, this small and beautifully formed space is a joy.

Not many art exhibits in this building and what there are is incredibly disappointing. (I can't help but wonder if The Tate, London decided to palm off their third rate artefacts on the provinces) I did it in half an hour, but it was worth going just to see the Lowery. The only saving grace of this space was the... More

Perfect size and variation in the exhibits for a decent but not tiring visit (1 - 2hrs depending if you like to linger). Always something interesting to see and if modern art is not your thing, there is plenty to see in and around the docks.

Plenty of opportunities to cynically laugh at the occasional plain black canvas (or some other piece of nonsense) supposedly representing art, but also some fascinating pieces which piqued the interest. Bit star struck from seeing an actual Mondrian, Picasso and Lowry. Listened to a presentation from an art gallery employee explaining Tracy Emin's Unmade Bed and drawing parallels between her... One of my favorite art museums and probably the highlight of my experience in Liverpool. I really liked the museum's "constellations" exhibit - the concept of grouping works of art by a theme or topic and showing how the pieces connect to each other along this theme. It really helped me understand the message of the art and draw novel... More

I have to congratulate the 3 gentlemen who gave out information on 3 exhibits we particularly liked. 1, Tracy Emin's famous bed along with i'ts detritus, 2 The painters film with it's antics. 3. Ellsworth Kellys work which most people would say like I did that "I can do that" I have posted photographs to see for yourself. Looking forward... More

I must admit that we expected to spend a short amount of time here puzzling over the art work when in reality we discovered a new found appreciation and understanding of modern art and this was all thanks to a wonderful guide called John who took the time to talk to us and explain -in an interesting and engaging way... Perfect location for a Tate, on the beautiful Albert Dock. It's a free gallery, so whether the art is to your liking or not, you'll not be out of pocket. I saw a couple of pieces that I really liked; A Picasso and Bernard Perlins, Orthodox Boys spring to mind. Some pieces, no idea! Beauty in the eye of the... More
