- Lorraine SSkipton, United Kingdom24 contributionsJust Wonderful!Wonderful Calderstones is very special which is why we don't mind travelling from from North Yorkshire to visit it. Yesterday was particularly lovely meeting up at the garden party with family, friends and dogs for my husbands birthday with several choirs performing, picnics and bbq. Gorgeous weather and a lot of happy children and doggies. We've visited in all weathers and always enjoy it very much. The walks here are lovely, and much like walking through meadow with beautiful old tress rather than in cultivated gardens laid out precisely. You can always find a little quiet spot somewhere in this absolute gem. Long may it always be a haven of tranquility.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten May 6, 2024
- oelbr1Manchester, United Kingdom8 contributionsBest park in Liverpool!Best park in Liverpool! Loads of green spaces for picnics, families, dogs etc. Lovely cafe, bookshop, and history exhibition in the central mansion house. Beautiful Japanese and Chinese walled gardens, a nice lake, plus tennis courts and play park etc. Lots of footpaths and different bits to explore, beautiful flowers and foliage everywhere, huge ancient trees - including the Allerton Oak. I love coming back here and walking through the park. Great for families, groups, or just a solo stroll.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten May 16, 2024

I didn't realise how big this park was! I thought this was just a little park off Calderstones Road...how wrong I was! It was a real pleasure taking a stroll around this place. The footpaths were lovely and clean and there were ample places to sit to eat your lunch. It's also really good you can grab a coffee and some lunch at the Reader Café located in Calderstones Park. My only gripe is that the service at this café was a bit too slow considering the size of the queue. Overall, I would highly recommend visiting Calderstones Park if you're in South Liverpool!Visited June 2024Travelled with friendsWritten July 1, 2024

There's plenty to enjoy here dog walking, exercising, feeding the ducks. Kids play area. They also have a Christmas festival on from November/December time (additional cost). Where kids can meet Santa.

Had a great family day out at Calderstones Park yesterday, listening to all the music at the Manor House and then the Alice in Wonderland Jaberwocky story walk in the park with Hannah. She included all the participants with her fantasy stories. A brilliant family activity

We've been to this park many many times in the past and it's been good. However, now the park has been ruined so my daughters are very upset.
First of all, in the playgrounds the large climbing frame, spider web climbing wall and rotating log have all been removed. This not only upset my kids but also will have made others sad. Similarly to playground equiptment being taken down, 2 pieces of gym gear have been removed.
Next, the fairground is a HUGE ripoff. 1 token=2 pounds, meaning that most rides are 2 pounds each, while some of them are 4 pounds each! Not only that, but the only half- decent rides, the sizzler and runaway train are gone and been replaced by baby trampolines. Very dissatisfied.

Beautifully kept park with pond, cafes, reader rooms, separate gardens, exercise machine and kid play areas. Much much more too especially tennis courts and bowls for those who enjoy those sports as well as plenty of room for a game of football. Very busy at wee

The weekend after my birthday I wanted to do something nice however another lockdown and more restrictions meant there wasn’t much I could do but picnics at the park were permitted. We found a quiet spot on a bench in the walled gardens and although a little chilly myself and my partner enjoyed an hour or so having a picnic in the well maintained gardens before having little walk through the park to head home. Some areas of the park are nice and peaceful

Another beautiful park with an english and japanese garden.
In the mansion you will find a cafe with a good variety. Also a guided tour in the past, which dates back to neolithic times, all well explained by a voluntary guide. there is also a 1000 year old tree, the allerton oak which is defintely worth a visit.

Visited a week ago with son and family. Finding a parking place was difficult, cars very tightly parked. Great childrens playground, safe for little ones and lots to do. Enjoyed a picnic in a nicely secluded area, visited the Japanese Garden. Great choice of ice creams and some very welcome benches to sit and enjoy them. All in all a great few hours and enjoyed by all.

Hi is Calderstone park dog friendly
Written October 27, 2019
Yes, but have a look a Sefton Park. Just down the road and a bigger and better place for dogs in my opinion.

Hi. The calderstones are now housed in a temperature & humidity controlled circular greenhouse that protects them from the environment (and vandalism). The stones are within easy viewing distance (a couple of metres) from the large plain glass windows of the greenhouse. I think the greenhouse is open for the weekend of 10th & 11th. September 2015. Hope this helps.
