Doesn't seem the usual place to visit as a tourist but it is well worth popping in,going up to the first floor and looking into the Picton reading room. Absolutely stunning

It looks like a Harry Potter movie library, really beautiful, great environment to study and read. It's also beautiful outside and the street is full of historic buildings.

Behind the Greek front is a beautiful and busy library. Showing that if libraries are done well people still need and want to visit them even your age of Google

Recently refurbished this is a library that really is trying and succeeding in making itself vital to the people of and visitors to this city. All the traditional library aspects are provided, lending and research etc., but a varied programme of art, music and exhibitions make this a place to visit again and again!

Modern meets old perfectly in this building, as you walk in the door, look up and you are met with an unusual view of a zig zag of escalators and a dome glass roof. Go upstairs to the Reading Room and you will be transported back in time to a beautiful reading room/library. With decorative wrought iron winding stairways, this... More

Went there twice to visit the famous names and titles printed on the walkway. I'm a huge Emily Bronte & Elizabeth Gaskell fan, so was excited to see the walkway. Getting there was easy, just minutes away walk from the Train Station. The library has a lot materials, and the insides are just as amazing. Beautiful interior and architecture, kids-friendly.

I visit this library a lot and take out books and use the computers. The staff are very helpful and patient. On occasion I wander round the old parts like the reading rooms; just lovely!
