Address
Neighbourhood: City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.

We booked the Early Access Tour, so we had plenty of time to view the jewels and other artifacts before the crowds arrived. We took two trips on the moving walkway.
Lots to see besides the jewels. There are gold and silver serving pieces as well.

We purchased our tickets for the Tower of London online, took the metro to Tower Hill stop which is right outside the Tower of London. A small security check at the entrance gate cleared us quickly and we were able to join the Beefeater led tour in progress. That tour ends at a central area right by the tower housing the Crown jewels. We visited on a weekday at noon and there were no lines, everything was moving quickly. Within minutes we were staring at the most precious jewels we have ever seen. There is a people mover belt directly in front of the display cases housing the crowns, but we were able to go several times around as there were hardly any people there. There are large displays of ceremonial tableware and other objects of historical value, fountains, huge punch bowl with a ladle, goblets, salt shakers, etc etc that were just precious and we were able to take as much time as needed to admire them, no lines. The restrooms are located to the left just as you exit the Gift shop.

I went to see the English Crown Jewels with my girlfriend during a holiday in the English capital. The precious objects are located inside a dedicated building within the perimeter of the Tower of London. To access it you must purchase an entrance ticket to the latter. It is not possible to take photographs or videos in the venue, surveillance is very careful. You can admire the crowns with which Charles III and Camilla were crowned, plus many other jewels and precious stones. In front of the most iconic crowns there are automatic belts on the ground therefore it is not possible to stop at the display cases. A must visit place for jewelry lovers.

The good bit first – the actual exhibits, the jewels, the robes, etc., are beautifully displayed. All spotlit and in the round, (so you can walk round and view from all sides).
The bad bits now –
1. Not set in context, no overview. Really needs an initial room telling people what they are going to see, the historical background and how and why coronations etc. have developed and changed in the UK over the time period. Otherwise, it’s just room after room of ‘bling’.
2. I appreciate and acknowledge the low lighting throughout. It adds to the ‘reverential’ atmosphere and displays the items at their best. BUT the first room is far too dark. I think there will be accidents in there – people stumbling and falling. If you are unsteady on your feet, or even slightly visually impaired, beware!
3. The labels on items were by and large not informative enough. And as far as I could tell, there was no written info on the coronation film being shown. I thought it was the late Queen’s coronation; in fact it included footage of the coronations of both George 5th and George 6th.

One of the highlights of visiting the Tower of London. Amazing collection of jewels and crowns of the Royal Family. A long wait can develop to enter the Jewel House and I would get to the Tower in the early morning at opening and head straight to the Crown Jewels even before taking the tour with the Beefeater. No photography allowed inside.

The fabulous crown jewels are kept inside the vault located in the large building opposite the White Tower. Wonderful and of incalculable value can be seen, but not photographed, after queuing, in our case, for about half an hour. Among the various objects on display, some magnificent scepters and crowns stand out, in particular the scepter with the largest diamond cut in the world.

If you have any interest in seeing the royal crowns and other royal objects then you do have to check out this exhibit.
This is located within the Tower of London and after reading many travel forums/groups the advice was clear. Arrive as close to opening as possible, then head straight to the jewels and you can do the tower tours afterwards. This was the best advice as we had 0 wait time to get in and by the time we left the exhibit the queue was full of people and school groups. I thought this advice was only needed for crowded summertime - but no, still helpful in October.
As another poster mentioned, it is dark in the exhibit. No pictures allowed. We stayed about 30-45 minutes.

Go here first before you tour the Tower of London. The jewels are amazingly beautiful. A lot of other museums replace the gems with fake. This is actually the vault where the crowns and other jewels are kept. We did not wait at all to get in as we went at opening and straight to the jewels.

This was the only attraction at the Tower of London we had to wait for. We got on the line at 11:35 and got inside at 12:05. It was worth it. That’s because there are actually several rooms of items on display.
It isn’t just a single room but multiple ones featuring past crowns, ceremonial maces, dinner services, and more. That makes the experience worth the time and effort. If you are already at the Tower of London this is a no-brainer.

When you decide to go see the Crown Jewels, it is much more than the crowns, tiaras and jewels, you witness the history of the monarchy, pictures of Princesses and Queens throughout the ages and a walk through the halls of this palace breathes life into the history of England's monarchy
