Overview
More
Far beneath the majesty and splendor of the Paris Opera House, hides the Phantom in a shadowy existence. Shamed by his physical appearance and feared by all, the love he holds for his beautiful protegee Christine Daae is so strong that even her heart cannot resist. The musical opened at Her Majesty's Theatre on 9 October 1986 with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in the leading roles, and there have been dozens of productions worldwide since then. Now in its 26th record-breaking year, The Phantom of the Opera continues to captivate audiences at Her Majesty's Theatre in London's West End, after more than 10,000 performances. Andrew Lloyd Webber's mesmerizing score along with jaw-dropping scenery and breathtaking special effects, magically combine to bring this tragic love story to life each night.

Yet another superb musical in the West End - the talent is just extraordinary. The characters, the story, the singing, everything just comes together to make a spectacular show. I definitely preferred the second half, and thought the ending was superb. You really get to...More

Is it called polytextuality? Where several people sing at the same time, different texts? Well this technique was demonstrated abundantly in the production I saw, creating the impression of people talking over one another. I suppose that this is very effective as a short, sharp...More

I wished that I had picked another play. If you like the theme of the performance you will enjoy it but seeing Wicked the weekend before made this play seem like second fiddle.

Went on bank holiday to finally see 'Phantom'....good singing, especially by the leads, and sets and production were impressive, but our experience was slightly spoilt by mainly Chinese tourists, who insisted on talking and using their mobile phones during the performance. During the interval the theatre...More

Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII,
the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier

Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which
indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the
establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during
a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s

Yes, as the theatre is small, the middle of the theatre after 6 or 7 rows is comfortable.

Hi there is no reason to dress formally. There will be people there in suits and some in jeans. I usually go smart casual just to enjoy - have a great time
