Tates collections are wonderful but this major temporary exhibition was amazingly good. Room after room chronicling his progress with excellent examples of his stages of development. All under one roof. Well worth the charge. After all the rest of the gallery is free.

It strikes me that those people who have commented that this gallery is "terrible" probably did not actually bother to walk through and study what was in the main galleries. This gallery has a world-class collection of paintings - many are well-known classics which will...More

Tate Britain is a truly world class art gallery, apart for special exhibitions it is also free to enter. We have membership which gives us access to all of the exhibitions and the members room, which is useful to escape the crowds during weekends etc.

We are so lucky in the UK to have free access to culture like this. I missed out on visiting the Tate Britain many years ago when I worked in London (a poor excuse since I only worked 20mins up the road) so I really...More

It was great to see works which are privately owned so even though I have been to many galleries seeking them out there was much that was new to me. The little drawings and sketches were exquisite and the large tapestries fascinating in their detail....More

The exhibition only runs until 24th February so there's not a lot of time to make your mind up. Expected to see another member of the gang (and a great gang they were!) but although there is something there, there is a lot more as...More

Saw wonderful works of art. Very engaging. Lighting and layout is engaging and has a nice chronological progression.

Time spent in Pimlico is a slower-paced affair than
most other Central London neighbourhoods. This largely
residential area orderly arranged beside the Thames,
is a treasure trove of quaint pubs, subtle
architectural charms and local boutiques. Here, art
lovers thrill at the chance to visit the world class
Tate Britain gallery for its collection of British art
from the 1500s to the present. For peace and quiet and

We went on a Saturday in the rain and just walked straight in so I wouldn't have thought there would be a problem during the week at all with queues
