You should listen to lore podcasts before visiting this place. I have been there once, not sure if it's the type of place I would want to recommend to anyone. Unless you are a ghostbuster!

I know it sounds creepy but I love walking through cemeteries - I have done so around the world and I have actually learnt so much history! You find graves of famous people and just ordinary people - and sometimes sadly whole families of children...More

Was curious to see this cemetery so we booked (had to) a guided tour for the West cemetery. Little underwhelmed feelings because... Graves were severely overgrown by plants and there were not so many famous people buried here. The guide was a very nice and...More

Amazing cemetery to walk around!! And so big! We only went into the East side as the West side is guided tours. It cost us £4 per adult. We spent a lovely warm day wondering around the cemetery, looking at all the unusual and some...More

We took the £12 of the west cemetery, our guide was John Waite from BBC Radio 4. The tour was quirky, fun and informative, with John pointing out graves of people we didn't know we knew (e.g. the man behind Crufts Dog Show). The cemetery...More

When I suggested a tour of Highgate Cemetery to my friend she jumped at the chance, and nagged me until it was booked. We were lucky and had lovely weather, but it would have been equally enjoyable and atmospheric in the rain or at night....More

I went recently - you have to get there yourself (signposted but worth looking at google maps). Only the volunteers at Highgate cemetery are allowed to do the tours.

I believe so, though if you speak to someone at the gate, I would imagine they'd be accommodating. The price to ender the East side is around 4-8 pounds, from what I recall.
