It was such an interesting and informative tour! Lilly, our tour guide, gave us insight on the history of the East London area as well of its street art and graffiti. I recommend this to everyone and believe it needs to be on everyone's check list here in London!

Whilst predominantly focusing on the street art, itself incredibly interesting, Alternative London also offers people a chance to learn about the changing cultural, economic and socio-political aspects of the Shoreditch area. Our guide was Doug, who was very knowledgeable, passionate about what he does and impressively kept the mood upbeat to stave off a seriously cold afternooon! As others have... More

In a cold and windy February afternoon Doug gave us the opportunity to visit a different London, really fascinating, a great alternative to the standard city tours. No booking fee, no fixed price, you pay for what he deserves. Very nice experience. Franco from Italy

Tour was conducted by Lily Mixe, a very enthusiastic guide. Whilst it was a very cold day Lily managed with ease to make the tour interesting and informative, Lily was a mine of information and extremely passionate - maybe that was the French influence!! We thoroughly enjoyed our time and look forward to doing a few more tours with Alternative... More

I have done this tour twice and very much enjoyed the first one despite the freezing cold in November! First time our guide was Josh, and the second time was Keer (I think this is how its spelt) Don't get me wrong, the second tour was good too, but I felt that a lot of street art and locations I... Had no idea what to expect but thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Will definitely recommend to other like-minded people who enjoy street art and its backstories.

We took the tour as a couple with a group of 20 people. Our guide was excellent, he showed street art from small to large, from visible to hidden and tell great stories about it. Because he is a street artist, it makes everything more trustworthy and real. There is no set price, you pay what you would like to... More

Spent a very informative 2 hours walking around Spitalfields and Brick Lane, being shown the secrets of London's street artists. From subtle bronze figurines permanently adorning street signs, to temporary tags and fly-by-night stickers, this was an in-depth and immersive experience I can't recommend highly enough. Josh's knowledge was both encyclopedic and personal, being on the front-line of the urban... More

I'm a Londoner living in Amsterdam and when visiting, I never come up this end of town. This was really a wonderful and unique opportunity to see how Street art developed and some of the history of the area. If you have been to Miami's Wynwood Walls, I can honestly say that this is nothing like it at all. This... More

Staying in Spitalfields

Neighbourhood Profile
For a glimpse of Georgian and Victorian London at its most pristine, or a peek into what's apt to be the next big global trend, the hipster zone of Spitalfields can provide hours of amazement. Around the clock, this is a haven for early morning bargain hunters sizing up its street markets, foodie foragers throughout the day, or late night revelers hitting some of London's most popular bars and clubs.

Wedged between the business-minded City of London, expressly trendy Shoreditch, and zestful Whitechapel, the lines between traditional and contemporary beautifully blur in this historic East End nexus.
